Colonial Funeral Home selected to provide limousine services for the Marshall-Spreier family and Extreme Makeover Home Edition

Jane Marshall-Spreier and her family were graciously overwhelmed by the whole Extreme Makeover Home Edition event.  I could see a “how could this be happening to us” look on their faces.  Her children were playful and happy but still there was an expression of “Is this really real”.  And how could they not feel that way with the extreme change of events in their lives.

Fun, rewarding, fulfilling, and exciting are a few words to describe the experience I felt during the Extreme Makeover Home Edition week here in Pocatello.  When I got the call from Anthony Ruillo, production coordinator of ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition to supply limousine services to a local family, I was excited to know that someone out of the 312,000 plus nominees was from right here in Pocatello. I was even more excited to know that the Jane Marshall-Spreier family was the one selected.

We were asked to take Jane’s family in our white Lincoln stretch limousine to the Salt Lake airport and pick them up again after they arrived from their special vacation a day before the “MOVE THAT BUS, Reveal”  It was wonderful  to donate our services as did so many of the local contractors and volunteers.  I spoke with several of the local builders, all of which expressed how satisfying the experience was during the week. And what a feat it was to demolish and reconstruct a house in a little over 100 hours.  It was described as “organized chaos” by some people but an amazing number of some 3500 volunteers from Pocatello, Idaho Falls and surrounding communities that beat the path in and out of that location to finish the job in time allotted.

Hats off to Rockwell Homes, Idaho State University, The Huntsman Center and all of the hundreds of volunteers of Pocatello who donated their time and talents to generously complete this event.   Local realtor Jim Johnston commented that he’d never witnessed such a large group of just about every area contractor working together on a single project.  It is truly an example of the extraordinary community fabric that makes up the people of this area. Watch Extreme Home Makeover Home Edition on ABC Sunday 8-7 Central.
