Donald Moser
Posted on May 31, 2012 | 14 commentsDon C. Moser, 62, Pocatello passed away May 30, 2012 at Portneuf Medical Center with family and friends at his side.
Don was born March 18, 1950 to Donald G. and Marie Chandler Moser. His childhood was spent in Inkom with an enormous family filled with wonderful Aunts, Uncles and cousins. He was educated at Inkom Elementary and Marsh Valley High school in Arimo, Idaho. Don was a Boy’s State Attendee and wrestled for many years while going there. His wrestling then took him to Idaho State University.
Don’s family all avid hunters and fisher men spent family time together enjoying these activities. At 17, Don joined his father as a member of the National Ski Patrol. He would end up giving service to the Skyline Ski Area (Pebble Creek) for more than 25 years, and becoming an accomplished skier.
Don worked on the family ranch before going to work for the Parks and Sons Sanitation Company. He left them to become a professional ski patrolman at Brighton Ski Resort in Salt Lake City. Don married Kristin Dahlquist, April 11, 1975. He was then given the opportunity to work for the new company in town, United Parcel Service. He was a driver for them for over 30 years. Many people throughout southeast Idaho grew to love and appreciate Don’s dependable service and positive outlook. Don and Kristin are the parents of three sons, Seth, Jordan and Pete. Don not only passed on his love of skiing to the boys but instilled in them the same unbelievable work ethic that he practiced throughout his life. They also joined him in golf, horse racing and enjoying all the people that spent time with their Dad.
Don is survived by his mother, Marie Moser, sisters, Judy (Jeff) Martin and family, Penny (Mark) Bennett and family, Kathy (Darren) Wilson and family, Patsy Moser and family, brothers, Ernie (Sue) Moser and family, Terry (Temple) Moser and family. He was preceded in death by his Father, Donald G. Moser and a niece, Kami Nicole Martin.
Don’s sons and family hope you will help them celebrate their Dad’s life and look forward to hearing from you, because Don truly loved his family and friends and loved to share and hear a good story.
Funeral Services for Don will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the old LDS Inkom Ward Bld. Family will receive friends at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 South 4th Avenue on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. as well as at the church on service day from 9:30 – 10:45 A.M. I am so saddened to hear of Don’s passing. He was a good person and a good friend. AND…. he was such a character! When you think of Don Moser… a person has to smile! OMGosh … he was always up to something and seldom without that wonderful impish grin. I met Don in the 70′s at UPS. After my first few years employed there as a clerk, it was Don’s unfortunate responsibility to teach me to be a driver. Oh the stories I could tell! Don also taught me how to hunt, how to snow ski, and how to ride a giant horse. He loved to torment me! He seriously loved to poke fun, tease and play practical jokes. Again … Oh, the stories I could tell! And …. I will never ever forget that he was often one of the first people to come if I needed help due to my children, my car, my e-husband or to comfort me when my father passed. He was a kind and loving friend. I have many fond memories of Don. I want to extend my sincerest condolences to the entire Moser family and to all of his many, many friends.
I am very sorry to hear of Donny’s passing. He was a classmate for my entire grade school and high school years. I especially remember Don as one of the instigators of the “Bald Eagles”, when the wreslting team shaved their heads. That is typical of my memorys of him. It seems that there have been quite a few of our classmates pass on and it is always hard to come to terms with. My sincere condolences to your great family. may the peace and assurance of our lord be with you in this time of Mourning.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Moser family at this time. Both Vance and I thought a lot of Donny, as well as the entire Moser family.
Truely our thouhts and prayers go out to Don’s sons and other family members since hearing of Don’s passing. He and I drove packages together at UPS early when they opened in West. Idaho. The greatest stories should never go print. We hung out again later here in Boise when he’d bring horses to the area. I’ll truelly never forget his impish grin when “something was in the work’s”. TRUELY A GREAT & GRAND FRIEND. May peace be with you all May God Bless. Dave and Norita
