Laura was born October 6, 1939 in Malad, Oneida County, Idaho to George Milton Scott and Naomi Roderick.
Her mother passed away shortly after her birth and she was raised by her daddy, until he too, passed away while she was yet a young girl. As the youngest child of 10, her older brothers and sisters finished raising her.
Laura attended school in Malad, Idaho graduating from Jr. High School and later received her GED certificate. Upon her marriage she lived her remaining years in Pocatello.
Laura married Clell G. Bennett in Pleasant View, Oneida County, Idaho on September 15, 1956. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple October 6, 1967. They have been married 57 years. Together they had four children; Laurinda N. Bennett of Los Alamos, NM, Kay (Mike) Gardner of Blackfoot, Julie A. Bennett, of Pocatello, and Clell Jr. – Ben, (Joyce), of Boise.
Laura was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She spent many years in the Primary Organization, and loved spending time with the children. She has also served in the Relief Society and enjoyed the association with the sisters she served. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers as well. Clell and Laura were able to serve in the Idaho Falls Temple, which brought great joy to her.
When her children were young, Laura worked at Alvord’s Café. After her children were grown, she also worked as an election clerk & absentee election clerk. Laura really liked the work and meeting the many different people. She spent one summer conducting a statistical survey for Idaho Transportation Department. She became an accomplished cake decorator and made many beautiful wedding & other decorated cakes.
Most of her life’s work was being a stay at home mom, and homemaker, which she really loved. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was always joking with her loved ones. Laura loved to go camping, fishing, and hunting with family and friends. Since Clell retired, they have traveled to Arizona several years in the winter. Laura really relished traveling and seeing new places. Several years ago, they fulfilled her life-long dream of a trip to Hawaii, which she never stopped smiling about. A life long hobby was collecting salt & pepper shakers. Laura’s first priority in life was to take care of her family, her extended family and others. She was a caretaker for her brother Rodney for many years. Many lives have been touched and enriched by her cooking, kindness and compassion. Her family was her joy. She loved them and spent many hours doing things to make them happy.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ella & Vella Scott, and Althea Buckley; and brothers George Scott, Larry Scott, and Rodney Scott. She is survived by her husband, Clell Bennett, her four children, fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandkids. She is also survived by sisters Lila (Bill) Moss, Josephine May and brother Khalil (Patsy) Scott all of Malad, ID.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the kindness and the care by the nurses and staff at the hospital. Their professional and compassionate care will not be forgotten.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS Century Ward on 4th and Fredregill in Pocatello on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 11:00 am. Viewing will be Friday evening 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South 4th Avenue and one prior to services at the church.

PLEASE SET ME FREE
Jehovah God, please hear my prayer.
For I need to know that you care.
In Jesus’ name, please hear my plea
and from my sin please set me free.
Please forgive me, Father dear
It is your name that I will fear.
For I will glorify your name
if you will free me, please, from blame.
I seek not glory from the men.
But your approval please let me win.
For, if with you I can reside,
who can harm me by your side?
Make my feet walk in your light
and may my steps your heart delight.
Please guard my feet, don’t let me trip.
But for your will please let me slip.
OH! Dear Jehovah! I love you so!
Please, my Father, don’t let me go.
For by your hand I want to stand
for then I’ll boast in my God Grand!

She was born in Bancroft, Idaho on March 28, 1928 to Clarence Emmitt Fuger and Violet McElroy Fuger. She was the youngest of three children and the only girl. The family moved to Pocatello when she was still in the second grade. She attended Roosevelt Elementary and spent her junior high years at Irving. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1946, finished the Vo-Tech cosmetology program and worked as a stylist for three years after graduation. She then spent a year as a drugstore sales clerk after which she made a decision to devote herself to her true calling as wife, homemaker and mother.

She met Jay W. Terry when she was a senior in high school while simultaneously attending beauty school training. They were married on June 4, 1948 in Pocatello and had many adventures together while hoping to start their family. She was ecstatic to find herself expecting their first child after five years of marriage and gratefully welcomed their first son, Michael in the fall of 1953. It would take another eight years for this particular blessing to be repeated but it would be spectacular when it finally happened. In February 1961, twin boys Pat and Scott completed the family. Betty and Jay spent many happy hours camping, boating and enjoying family life and the growing musical talents of their sons.

Jay traveled for extended periods with his job at Morrison-Knudson and Betty found that she was very self-reliant during his long absences. She happily took on household repairs, vehicle maintenance, yard work and all the tasks that a family requires while keeping an immaculate house and raising their sons. She and the children traveled to many different states and countries while accompanying Jay on his job assignments and had the opportunity to live in Vietnam, El Salvador, Kansas City and North Carolina and visited Europe, Mexico, Malaysia, Thailand, Guatemala, New York, Washington D.C., Portugal and more.

In January 1996, Betty was devastated by the death of her husband but carried on with her usual grace and dignity. Their 48 year marriage was filled with adventure and happiness leaving her with many wonderful memories.

Betty was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1960 and was a member of the Cedar 1st Ward. She took out her endowments in 1996 and was sealed to Jay at the Idaho Falls Temple in November 1999. She also served faithfully in various church positions through the years. She was an admirable example of strength, kindness and love throughout her life. Her wonderful sense of humor served her well in both happy and challenging times and her charisma and sweet nature remained untouched by time. She was clever, quick to laugh and always had a quip to suit the occasion. She was profoundly loved by her family and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Jay (Connie) of Pocatello, Patrick Leo (Michele) and Scott Emmett, of Salt Lake City, her granddaughters, Jennifer (Jack) Hagen of Nampa, and Kristy (Josh) Heinz of Pocatello, along with great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jenson, T.J. and Neleah.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Violet Fuger, her husband, Jay W. Terry, brothers Clarence Jr. and Bill Fuger and twin great-grandsons Bridger and Weston Heinz.

Graveside services for Betty Terry will be held at 2 pm Friday, May 3, 2013 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 1 pm to 2 pm prior to the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho.

POCATELLO-Clair Brower Neilsen passed away peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the age of 92, surrounded by his family and his sweetheart of nearly 70 years by his side. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.

A Pocatello resident for over sixty years, Clair was born at Burley, Idaho on January 17, 1921, the oldest of six children, to Mervin Lauritz and Velda Elizabeth Neilsen. He spent his childhood and early teen years in Hawkins Basin, where the family had a ranch and farmed in that area. He was inducted into military service in 1942 and served very honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. While being trained at both Camp Carson and Camp Hale, Colorado, he was attached to the 110th Mountain Signal Corp of the 10th Mountain Ski Troop Division and also attended radio school, where he earned his Specialist rating for a high speed radio operator using Morse code. With that training, he was shipped overseas for a special combat mission in Italy, where he earned the Bronze Star for maintaining radio communications between his division headquarters and the infantry regiments for 48 hours without rest, which resulted in saving many American lives.

Clair married his sweetheart, Nina June Lish, and their marriage was sealed in the Logan, Utah temple in 1948. They have been lifelong active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

After his military discharge in 1945, Clair returned to farming , then worked for P.F.E., at Massey-Ferguson, then for Interstate Motor Lines for 21 years until his retirement. He and his wife, June, and their three children enjoyed many camping and fishing trips in southeastern Idaho during those early years. He had a special love for horses and enjoyed time spent outdoors with his family. He participated in his church choir with his beautiful tenor singing voice and entertained family at many reunions with his gift for playing the harmonica. Clair was also an avid bowler, a member of several teams through the years in Pocatello and was still bowling at the age of 89.

Clair is survived by his wife, June, and their three children: Douglas Neilsen, West Valley, Utah; Thayle and Linda Smith, American Falls, Idaho; and Bert and Jane Glandon, Boise, Idaho; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Idaho Veterans Center for their special care and attention while he was a resident there the past two years.

Funeral services for Clair will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South Fourth Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho. There will be a visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Restlawn Memorial Gardens with Military Honors being conducted by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
