An avid fisher and bowler, she never failed at having a good time. She fell in love and married Walt Alexander in April of 1971 and also became an amazing mother.
Genie was actively involved in her community; she was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, attended Southern Baptists Church, was a member of the sorority Beta Sigma Phi, and is a past president of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does. She worked for Quality Control at Lambweston and as a bookkeeper at Pocatello Ready Mix/Sanding gravel. She also spent time as a bookkeeper for Blocks Department Store. She then worked for the Bannock County Treasurers Office for twenty-one years until becoming the county treasurer in 2002 for four years.
Genie loved spending her time with her family and friends and could always bring a smile to everyone’s face.
Genie is survived by her seven grandchildren: Koren Alexander, Brandon Page, Sean Winsor, Kris Jones, Amy Thorton, Jason Woods, and Jami Woods; her children, Troy Alexander and Susan Woods; and her siblings, Bette Volkman, Dressia Hio, and Bob Newsom. We will all miss you, Genie! Her memorial ceremony will be held at Rocky Mountain Ministries, 845 Hyde Avenue, Pocatello, on Wednesday, May 4th, at 11 a.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.Colonial-FuneralHome.com.

So very sorry to hear of your mothers passing. We spent many years working together in the Treasurers office. She was very dedicated to her work and also knew how to have a good time. She loved her family very much and will be missed. My thoughts are with you and your family at this time of sadness.
Shelley Shannon
Thank You Shelley for the love and prayers when they are needed the
most.
Please except our sincere condolences in the loss of your Mother, Sister, Grandmother and my Dearest Niece. I always felt not like a relative but a very close friend. It gives me great joy just remembering the fun things we did together. We will always remember in our hearts the fun loving person she was.
I am sorry that we can not be there but Texas is a long way from Idaho and I don’t think I could make it in time for the service, but please know I am sending this with love and that y’all are in my prayers. We should celebrate her life, she was one in a million.
I am so sorry for your loss.
