Carl was born March 8, 1937 in Inkom, Idaho to Clifford Joseph Campau Sr. and Abbey Ione Olsen Campau. He lived in Inkom until the age of 6 when the family moved to Pocatello. He attended school in Pocatello until the 11th grade when he joined the Navy.

He met Shirley Jean Sharp while stationed in Washington; she was later to become his wife of 62 years. Carl and Shirley were married February 22, 1957. They had two children; a daughter, Wendy (Randy) and a son, David (Annette). He is survived by his wife; and children; six grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren; with one expected in September of this year.

Carl worked for Lamb Weston and J. R. Simplot, retiring from the Gay Mine Operation.

He was L.D.S. where he served as ward clerk, Sunday school president, and ward missionary. He and Shirley served as missionaries at the Pocatello Veterans Home for 5 years. He and Shirley gained much joy from their service through the Church.

The Campau family played a lot. They enjoyed camping, fishing, water skiing snow skiing, riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. Carl also enjoyed team calf roping. Later after the children were married and gone, they traveled most of the western United States and Canada on their Gold Wing Motorcycle with great friends.

Carl and Shirley both say, “We worked hard and we played hard.”

Carl passed peacefully at home Thursday, June 20, 2019 with his wife and family at his side.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 2 pm at the LDS Chubbuck Stake Building, 450 James Ave. Chubbuck, ID 83202, with a viewing for one hour prior.

Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at the Inkom Cemetery.
