Jerry Murray Mortenson, 80, passed away on April fool's day, 2019 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho due to complications from a heart attack.

He was born to James and Virginia Mortenson on May 7, 1938 in Preston, Idaho. He graduated from Preston High School and went to work for Gale Lim Construction sometime after and worked as a heavy equipment operator building mountain roads for several decades.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his youngest son, Jimmy Mortenson, who died of Leukemia at age 11; and his brother, Jim Mortenson.

He is survived by his wife Conna Day; his siblings, William Harris, Evan Harris, Van Harris, Terry Mortenson; his children, Rocky (Carol) Mortenson, Debbie (Bob) Fisher, Penny (Bart) Mortenson, Tracy (Melinda) Mortenson, and Travis Mortenson.

Jerry and Conna were married on June 28, 2010. They came together after they had each lost a spouse. They were both born in Preston, Idaho and actually shared a crib, sometimes when they were babies, while their mothers were busy. They went to the same elementary, middle and high school, but went their separate ways until years later when they reconnected, fell in love and decided to spend the rest of their days together. Before Jerry retired, Conna would go to the Cat dealer and get a giant "tooth" for his bulldozer and bring it to Jerry in the hills. She would do this on a Friday and then spend the weekend with him. Jerry truly loved tearing up mountains to start the road building process. He was a devoted husband and took care of Conna after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Jerry was a good man and will be missed by many.

To the Family,
I want to express how sorry to read about your loss. Losing a family member can be very painful. When I lost my father, I found comfort in what the Bible teaches.
I fully believe, as the Bible teaches, that God will restore paradisaic conditions to our earth and that he yearns to bring back to life on earth those who have died—including our family members. (Job 14:14, 15; John 5:28, 29)
We can look forward to the day when we will hold and embrace them again. Every time we hear the word “paradise,” that hope warms our hearts! In the meantime, we can take comfort in the fact that they are in God’s memory.
I hope the same thoughts may bring your family comfort in dealing with your loss.
