Mianna Farnes Curtis left the arms of her family early on January 13, 2020 due to complications of her battle with a rare cancer. She entered mortality November 21, 1987 in Rockville, Maryland. Her parents, Janna Haraszthy Farnes and Michael Edward Farnes, named her after her maternal grandmother and great- great-grandmother from Riga, Russia. “Ani” grew up in Pocatello, ID adored by her three older brothers, Jamie, Adam, and BJ and many, many dear friends.

She graduated from Highland High School in 2006 and BYU-Idaho in 2014 with a bachelor’s in Art and Photography. In the interim, she worked to put herself through college, obtained an associate’s degree from ISU, and served a mission for the LDS church in the California Arcadia Mission. Most recently, she worked as a personal banker with Wells Fargo.

The greatest blessing of her life was finding her true love, Kaden Bradley Curtis, and marrying him in the Idaho Falls Temple on April 27, 2018. Kaden’s parents, Brad and Kristi, and siblings: Mattison Harding and husband Cole, Bowen, Olivia, and Dane, enthusiastically welcomed Mianna into the Curtis-Parrish clan.

Mianna and Kaden had a beautiful life together and even enjoyed opportunities to perform together at the Palace Playhouse. They welcomed their son, Samuel Bradley Curtis, on August 12th last year. However, Sam came twelve weeks early and fought his own rough battle.

Three days after Mianna was diagnosed with cancer, little Sam was called home on October 17, 2019. Amidst that emotional trauma, his mother’s physical torment commenced. In less than three months, spending half of that time in the Huntsman Cancer Center with her loving mother by her side, Mianna was also called home leaving a devastated husband.

Tragedy and triumph hand-in-hand. And yet her rock of a husband gave her at the end of her short life the things she most desired and treasured: being a wife to her best friend and becoming a mother. Her whole family loves Kaden for this, more than words can express.

Friends and family describe her with words such as kind, giving, dedicated, faithful, talented, beautiful, graceful, fun, smart, quick-witted, and as one who always brought laughter and peace while radiating her light. There exists an immeasurable hole in our hearts. However we know we will see her again. We pray that we all will continue to feel her love, example, and influence and that the Holy Ghost will comfort us as only He can.

We welcome family and friends to a viewing Friday, January 17th from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID, as well as a funeral Saturday, the 18th at 11 am at the Chubbuck LDS Stake Center, 450 James Ave. Chubbuck, ID (by the Portneuf Library).

In lieu of flowers, we invite donations to help Kaden cover the extensive medical bills. We sincerely thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers during these most difficult times.

Mianna was one of the best persons I have had the pleasure to meet. I got to know her during her employment with Wells Fargo. What a special young lady. Heaven just got a very special angel. I know she is happy being back with her baby. It is always tough for us that are left behind. Our prayers go out to her family and her good husband. Terry Felsman

Such a valiant warrior; so special that her true mission here on Earth was to give perfect little Samuel a body so he could complete his eternal plan. Going above and beyond she touched so many lives with love, laughter and happiness during her journey here. May you all hold tight to your memories and the knowledge that you will be together again.

I am SO sorry to hear of Mia's passing! I remember her as a beautiful, mischievous little girl, so sweet and adorable. She was a pleasure to be around. I love you all and send hugs to each and every one, including her dear husband.

Dear Janna, Mike and Family;

My heart is full of love and pain all at the same time. If we didn't love so much, we wouldn't hurt so much. I prefer to love and hurt. It's the love that unites us so when we hurt, we hurt together. Your family is dear to me, every one - even the now angel in heaven that looks down and loves from heaven.

To the family and friends of Mianna,

How sadden I was to have heard the passing of such a beautiful daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. Mianna served part of her mission in the Creekside Ward (City of Walnut), Hacienda Heights California Stake from SEP 2011 NOV 2011. Though her stay was brief in my ward, she made such a spiritual impact! My ward family embraced and loved her. I posted pictures of Mianna I took of her to share.

Though I mourn the passing of her life so young, I rejoice in the knowledge of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and its Plan of Salvation that I will see her again. That is the message she shared on her mission. "Well done, thy good and faithful servant ..." Until we meet again 💙

Dear Michael:
I tried to find your address to send you a card, but I could not. Please know that my heart is broken for your loss. You may have noticed in the obituaries that we lost Dan. You will always have a warm spot in our hearts for your kindness to Laura, and to Dan. May God heal your pain.
