Biography

POCATELLO-Frances Stroud, 88, passed away at her daughter’s home Thursday, November 12, 2009. She was born July 8, 1921 in Grover, Wyoming, the daughter of Francis Hurd and Isabelle Walker Hurd. She attended school in Star Valley, Wyoming and continued on from the 4th grade in Leadore, Idaho.

She married Delbert Stroud in Salmon, Idaho on November 15, 1937 and together they raised four children, Allen, Fern, Nola and Karla.

Frances worked in many positions in Leadore including, the Leadore Cash Store (grocery), hot lunch program and as a waitress at the Railroad Tavern. Mom was fun and easy going. She was game for anything. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Leadore Ward.

Frances enjoyed crocheting, gambling, travel, playing cards, reading and gardening. She liked U.S. and especially Native American history. She loved to follow Jazz basketball.

She is survived by her daughters, Fern DeCora, Kuna, ID and Karla (Mike Sorrell) Stroud, Pocatello, ID and a nephew, Van Bagley, Idaho Falls, ID. She was also survived by 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Allen Stroud, a daughter, Nola Richardson, one granddaughter, four brothers and one sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will by held at 1 PM Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Leadore Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held at the church from 12 noon until the time of services. Burial will follow at the McRea Cemetery, Leadore. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Avenue, Pocatello.

Tuesday November 17, 2009, 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Leadore LDS Church

There will also be a visition one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the McCrea Cemetery in Leadore.
