Biography
POCATELLO-Wayne Easton Lyman, 79, of Aberdeen, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at a local hospital surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born July 14, 1931 the 3rd of 6 children of Wayne Roper Lyman and Margaret Easton
Lyman in Milford, Utah; where he attended school and enjoyed playing basketball and going to dances.
Wayne joined the United States Air Force in 1950, and served his country as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean conflict and after serving, received an honorable discharge in 1953.
After moving to Pocatello, Wayne went to work for Garrett Freight lines as a diesel mechanic, he retired in the early 1990’s.
He met Yvonne Cox and were married June 15, 1956 in Pocatello, Idaho and together had 4 children; Clayton, Denice, Lori, and Thomas. They were later sealed together in the Ogden LDS temple.
Wayne was proud to be a lifetime member of the NRA, and a member of the Machinist Union. He also served as the mayor of Arimo and currently serving on the Senior Citizens Board in Aberdeen.
Wayne is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Sunday School. Every fall he loved going on cattle roundups on the Big Onion. He loved hunting and fishing and being outdoors. He had a love for horses were he became involved in 4-H and High School Rodeo with his son Tom.
His most favorite way to spend his time was with his 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandson, and they lovingly nicknamed him “Grandpa EZ”. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Yvonne Lyman , Aberdeen, ID, children, Clayton Lyman, Tucson, AZ, Denice (Terry) Anderson, Kearns, UT, Lori (Troy) Beck, Aberdeen, ID, Thomas Lyman, Tyhee, ID, five sisters, Melpha (Bob) Kane, Beaver dam, AZ, Geraldine Christesen, Pocatello, ID, Shirleen Quinn, Salt Lake City, UT, Helen (Don) Mecham, Idaho Falls, ID, Marion (Sam) Houston, Sunset, UT, a niece, Marci (Leroy) Bartu, Pocatello,ID, ten grandchildren, Danielle, Katrina, Anthony, Niccole, Natalie, Britanie, Tyler, Ashley, Kristan, Samantha, and a great grandson, Ethan.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Aberdeen 2nd Ward Chapel, Aberdeen, Idaho with Bishop Daryl McCombs, officiating. A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday evening July 27th at the Aberdeen 2nd ward Chapel and also one hour prior to the services at the church.
